When Apple makes an announcement, people think "Games!" So it was no surprise that at this year's Worldwide Developer Conference, they listed some exciting [sic] new games coming to the iPhone.
First, there's Super Monkey Ball. But not the cool minigames you think of when you think about what made Super Monkey Ball great. Instead, it's all the annoying tilty levels you had to play to unlock the cool minigames. You remember those, right? The ones that made you want to throw the controller into the nearest wall? Resist that urge on the iPhone, because the controller will cost at least $199. During the demo, a highly trained Super Monkey Ball expert showed off a few maddeningly difficult levels that made me think the $9.99 price point must be what they pay me to play it.
Also on display were two games ported from the Mac: Cro-Mag Rally, a tilt-steered kart racing game and Enigmo, a liquid pouring game. By the way, "games ported from the Mac" is a phrase I've never had to write in fifteen years of covering the industry. I'm just sayin'. Finally, there's Kroll, which is a caveman word that means "God of War".
I think they also said something about a new iPhone or some such thing.
