June 30, 2008: wallet threat level green

guitar_hero_aerosmith.jpgI don't want to alienate any Aerosmith fans, but I have three little words to sum up my reaction to this week's Guitar Hero: Aerosmith: "Train Kept A-rolling". After failing that song in Rock Band a million and six times, the last thing I want to hear is more Aerosmith. To be fair, there are a couple of other bands buried in this game, but you'll have to use your axe to bushwhack through a lot of Aerosmith to get to them.

Speaking of bushwhack, the other notable release this week is Trauma Center: Under the Knife 2 for the Nintendo DS, in which the snotty Dr. Derek Stiles leaves the big city ER and takes his nurse and his magical healing powers to the Third World. Think of it as Médecins Sans Frontières meets a bunch of medical-themed DS minigames that turn effectively impossible after about the fourth or fifth one.
