Although they've been schlepping it around to various publications for a few months, High Voltage Studios officially announced The Conduit, a first-person shooter for first-person shooter fans. The twist? It's built for the Nintendo Wii. Turns out Metroid Prime wasn't the only game not to get the Red Steel memo.
High Voltage doesn't have a publisher for The Conduit yet, but the developer has been around long enough that it's a safe bet someone will pick up this self-funded project in time for an early 2009 shelf date. According the press release, Conduit will feature "dynamic environment mapping", "interactive water with real-time reflection" and "four-stage texture composition including gloss, diffuse, and bump mapping". It will also have "competitive online multiplayer". In other words, it's built to appeal to the sort of hard-core shooter fans/graphics whores who, uh, have an Xbox 360 or Playstation 3.
You may not know High Voltage, but you've probably picked up one of their games when you were at a Best Buy or Gamestop. Then you probably put it right back down. But just to refresh your memory, here's a quiz called Pick Which One of These Isn't an Actual Game by High Voltage Studios:
a) Animales de la Muerte: Safari Rescue
b) Call of Duty 2: True Soldiers
c) V.I.P. Casino: Operation V.I.D.E.O.G.A.M.E.
d) America's Army: Protector of Earth
e) Go, Diego, Go!: Dark Conspiracy
Okay, pencils down. The answer, along with more Conduit screens, is after the jump.
